2026-2027 Academic Calendar

The Registrar's Office at Stanford manages the academic calendar. Below are the posted quarterly dates for the upcoming academic year; all dates are subject to change at the discretion of the University. If you’re planning travel during the academic year, we strongly encourage you to wait until you’ve received your class and exam schedule and reviewed your course syllabi before making any arrangements.

2026-27 Academic Year Calendar

First Day of Classes and End of Term

• Autumn Quarter: Tuesday, September 22, 2026 and December 11, 2026
  • New students move in on Tuesday, September 15. Housing will remain open during the Fall/Thanksgiving Break. Housing closes on Saturday, December 12, for Winter Break. All students must leave their dorm rooms during Winter Break.
• Winter Quarter: January 4, 2027 and March 19, 2027
  • Housing re-opens for Winter Quarter on Saturday, January 2, 2027. Housing will remain open during Spring Break.
• Spring Quarter: March 29, 2027 and June 9, 2027 (Commencement June 13)
  • Housing closes for the academic year on Friday, June 11, 2027. All students must move out of their housing unless approved for extended stay or summer housing.
• Summer Quarter: June 21, 2027 and August 14, 2027 (optional quarter)
  • Students who register for summer housing may choose an 8-week or 10-week summer contract. Summer housing applications will open in Spring Quarter.
